Rising Sun’s Lane Siekman won the Democratic primary here in Switzerland County on Tuesday for the Sixth Congressional District, but couldn’t carry that momentum districtwide, finishing third overall. The Democrat victor was Jeannine Lee Lake, and she will now campaign against Republican nominee Greg Pence in November.
On Tuesday, Siekman won here in Switzerland County, earning 261 votes. Jim Pruett received 61 votes; Lake received 51 votes; George Holland received 34 votes; Joshua Williamson received 17 votes; and K Lave received 3 votes.
Districtwide, Lake garnered 8,887 votes. Jim Pruett received 5,981 votes; Siekman received 3,606 votes; Holland received 2,567 votes; Williamson received 1,695 votes; and Lave received 446.
In other statewide races:
— Incumbent Joe Donnelly was unopposed in the Democrat Primary for U.S. Senate, and he received 326 here on Tuesday.
— In the race for State Senator of District 45, John Perkins was unopposed on Tuesday, and received 295 votes.
— Currently there is no candidate for State Representative, District 67.
