The Rising Sun Shiners wrapped up the Ohio River Valley Conference title with a 4-1 win over South Ripley on Monday at Versailles.
The win improved the Shiners to 10-0 with games left with Switzerland County and Southwestern.
Jake Bovard led Rising Sun with a pair of goals while Bryant Housemyer and Tristan Brown scored one each. The Shiners led 2-1 at the half.
Derrick Eldridge had a pair of assists and Brown one.
The Shiners escaped a tough Milan team with a 4-1 win over the Indians on Parent Appreciation Night Wednesday.
Rising Sun got on the board with 26:21 left in the first half as Bryant Housemyer’s attack was knocked into the goal by a Milan defender for an own goal.
Milan evened the score at the 2:18 mark as Kevin Mathis put in a rebound off a free kick.
Rising Sun couldn’t find the net in the second half until a handball gave the Shiners a penalty kick. Housemyer made good with 11:18 remaining. He followed that up with 7:04 left and Jake Bovard finished the scoring at the 5:19 mark. Zach Brokaw had a pair of assists.
Matt Martini had four saves.
In a rematch with Shawe on Friday, The Shiners posted a 10-0 homecoming win.
They scored six in the first half and four in the second.
Housemyer led the way with four goals for the second time this season. Senior Angelo Gallegos added a hatrick plus an assist. Brokaw had two goals and Bovard added one. Derrick Eldridge had four assists and Nick Koons one. Keeper Matt Martini had three saves.
Rising Sun (12-1-1) was ranked 14th in last week’s coaches poll. They will meet number one Lawrenceburg in the opening round of the Lawrenceburg Sectional on Wednesday.
