The Rising Sun Shiners led 2-0 before the clock even started as they got off to a good start in its regular season finale on Friday against Trinity Lutheran in Seymour.
Nick Koons made a pair of free throws as a technical foul was called for an error in the scorebook.
The game went back and forth in the opening quarter before Trinity held a 14-13 advantage.
An 8-0 Shiner run was answered by a Lutheran 7-0 run as the game was tied a trio of times. An 8-0 run put the host team ahead 33-25 at the half.
Rising Sun managed just four third quarter points as they trailed 43-29 with eight minutes remaining. A 16-14 advantage in the final quarter wasn’t enough as Trinity claimed a 57-45 win as both teams prepare for sectional play.
The Shiners were led by Brent Turner’s 17 points and four rebounds. Nick Koons finished with 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Junior Trenton Gridley came off the bench to scored eight points and grab four rebounds.
Tristan Brown had three points, three rebounds, four assists and a steal. Noah Pflum and Jacob Bovard added a basket each. Jason McClellan did not score but led the team with five rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Rising Sun connected on 13-for-28 from two point range and 2-for-12 from behind the arc. They were 13-for-15 at the free throw line.
Trinity finished with 18-for-31 from two point range and 3-for11 from 3-point range. They were 12-for-14 from the line.
Trinity had a 27-22 advantage on the boards and had 10 turnovers to 17 for the Shiners.
Jacob Rowe led all scorers with 18 points including four 3-pointers.
