Switzerland County Sheriff Nathan Hughes has reported that the number of criminal investigations coming into his office were down in 2007 compared to 2006.
Overall, 2007 saw 3,843 calls come into the sheriff’s office. That’s down six percent from the 4,076 calls that came in during 2006.
Activity, such as investigation of crime, was also down:
– Burglaries were down 51-percent, from 55 in 2006 to 27 in 2007.
– Domestic violence calls were down 23-percent, from 153 in 2006 to 118 in 2007.
– Thefts were down 16-percent, from 180 in 2006 to 151 in 2007.
– Traffic stops were down 28-percent, from 1,635 in 2006 to 1,170 in 2007.
– Papers served were down 13-percent, from 2,307 in 2006 to 2,017 in 2007.
