Seven school records fall for Swim team

The Switzerland County varsity boys and girls swim teams continue to record impressive times and establish new school records – including seven during their last event.

The records were established when the teams participated in the New Year Invitational along with Madison and Oldenburg Academy.

In the boys events:

– Mikhail Cole established two school records and earned two first place ribbons.

He won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :25.71 to set the record; and also set a record in winning the 100-yard freestyle in a time of :58.48.

- Dillon Deems won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:20.88; and he was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:08.73.

– In the 500-yard freestyle, Brady Voris set a new school record with a time of 7:34.98 in finishing third overall.

In the girls events:

– Hannah Slover established two school records, finishing second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:06.54; and by finishing fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :30.49.

– Alyssa Yorn established a school record in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing fourth overall in a time of 1:34.13. She was also fifth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:26.68.

– Olivia Hewitt set a school record in the 100-yard breaststroke when she finished third overall in a time of 1:33.73.

– Lauren Edwards was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of :36.70.

– The girls 200-yard medley relay team of Maya Drew, Olivia Hewitt, Lauren Edwards and Alyssa Yorn finished third in a time of 2:50.27.

– The girls 200-yard freestyle relay team of Maya Drew, Olivia Hewitt, Lauren Edwards and Hannah Slover finished third in a time of 2:16.78.
