The Switzerland County Health Department will be hosting a Health Navigator to its office on Tuesday, May 9th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Health Navigator will provide information on various types of insurance for individuals and families, including options from the Federal Marketplace or from the State, including Medicaid, HIP 2.0; or CHIP, depending on eligibility.

Those wanting to schedule an appointment may do so by calling the Health Department at (812) 427-3220; but walk ins are also welcome.

The Health Navigator will need to submit an application on the person being interviewed on their behalf. The Navigator will need the name, address, household size, income, and employment information to determine eligibility. Those attending must bring proof of income.

The eligibility for these health care coverage options depend on an annual income at or below $16,590 for an individual; $22,372 for a couple; or $33,934 for a family of four – typically they are eligible to participate in HIP 2.0.

If the person does not qualify for the State options and they are uninsured, then a Marketplace application can be completed. These income groups are consumers between ages 19 and 64.
