Seipel closing in on 200 after pair of ORVC wins

Rising Sun boys’ soccer moved into first place by itself after a come from behind 6-5 win over Jac-Cen-Del on Homecoming night, Friday, Sept. 11.

Coach Mike Seipel’s Shiners improved to 4-0 in Ohio River Valley Conference play with the win, the 198th of Seipel’s career.

Jac-Cen-Del scored early lead on a trio of Tyler Huff goals within the first 10 minutes.

Jacob Bovard scored on an assist from Angelo Gallegos before Gallegos picked up a goal on an assist from Bryant Housemyer.

Huff scored the fourth of his five goals to give JCD a 4-2 lead at the half.

Rising Sun reversed the flow in the second half, scoring four while holding the visiting Eagles to a solo goal.

Housemyer led the way with a pair of goals to start the second half, one on an assist from Derrick Eldridge.

The Shiners traveled to Oldenburg Academy and came up on the short end of a 4-0 decision.

The Class A fourth ranked Twisters scored on a penalty kick after a hand ball early in the contest. That’s all they needed. Tyler Camden got a yellow card after he went up for a head ball and both players went to the ground.

Later, Seipel said one of his layers went down away from the ball but there was no call.

The Shiners couldn’t take advantage of their speed on the small rolling field.
