Law enforcement officers have joined family, friends, and neighbors in searching for a Rising Sun man who has been missing since Monday morning.
Rising Sun Police Chief David Hewitt said that family members of Craig Whitham came to the Rising Sun Police Station on Tuesday night to officially file a missing persons report.
“They have no clue as to where he’s at, may have went. By doing that, he’s entered into the national database now,” Chief Hewitt said. “Obviously the family’s concerned. What we’re trying to do now is track down his vehicle.”
Chief Hewitt said that Whitham’s vehicle, a silver 2014 Dodge Journey (Indiana Veterans license plate #HW6348), is equipped with a program similar to General Motors “On Star” system, where vehicles can be located.
“Lieutenant Browning is in the process right now of actually trying to locate the vehicle through a Lo-Jack type system,” Chief Hewitt said. “We hope we locate it.”
Other than that, the department is searching for answers.
“Right now, we don’t have any leads,” the chief said. “The Aurora Police Department, as far as I know, they don’t either.”
Chief Hewitt said that the family last saw or spoken with Craig Whitham on Monday, February 22nd at approximately 9 a.m. Whitham lived with his aunt and uncle in Rising Sun, and has worked for the Aurora Life Squad and also in the Emergency Room at Dearborn County Hospital, according to Chief Hewitt.
His aunt and uncle, along with a cousin from Northern Kentucky, were the family members who filed the missing persons report.
Whitham’s disappearance has ignited social media, with family and friends sharing information across various platforms in hopes of having someone recognize the man or the vehicle.
“Craig Whitham is a normally very reliable person,” a post on Facebook said. “Craig spends a lot of time with family and no one has heard from him since 02/22/2016 at 7am. That is not like Craig. Please share and please look for Craig. His family and friends miss him and are very worried. Craig is a long time member of Aurora EMS and normally works multiple jobs. Everyone is worried. Please contact his family and/or the police if you see him.”
Anyone who may have information on Craig Whitham or his whereabouts or vehicle, or who has general information that they may feel would be helpful in the investigation, is asked to contact the Rising Sun Police Department at (812) 438-3737.
