SCHS to host volleyball sectional next week

The IHSAA Class 2A volleyball sectional will be played in the Switzerland County gym beginning this Tuesday night, and high school athletic director David Todd has announced the pairing for this year’s tourney.

The Sectional opens on Tuesday night, October 21st, at 6 p.m. with a match between Milan and South Ripley. That is the only match on the Tuesday slate.

On Thursday, October 23rd, the second round of the tourney opens at 6 p.m. with Hauser taking on North Decatur. Thursday’s second game will feature Lawrenceburg against the host Lady Pacers, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. following the first match.

Session three will be held on Saturday morning, October 25th, when Southwestern will play the winner of the Milan-South Ripley match at 11 a.m. That will be followed at approximately 12:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, when the winner of the Hauser-North Decatur match will play the winner of the Lawrenceburg-Switzerland County match.

The two winners from Saturday’s afternoon matches will then play for the Sectional Championship on Saturday night, and that match will begin at 6 p.m.

Admission for the Sectional will be $5 per session; or fans may purchase a ticket that entitles them to enter all of the sessions for $8.

The winner of the Switzerland County Sectional will advance to the Knightstown Regional, where they will play the winner of the Union County Sectional in the first round. The other teams in the Regional are the winners of the Heritage Christian Sectional and the Lapel Sectional.

That winner will then play the winner of the Bremen Regional in the Delta Semistate; with the state championship matches set for Worthen Arena at Ball State University. The semistates and state finals will both be played on Saturday, November 8th.
