I am thankful for many things at this Thanksgiving Holiday.

I am thankful that I live in the United States of America and for the freedoms that we have. I know that our freedom has not been free, but has been made possible by the sacrifices and service of the men and women who have served and are serving in the military.

When I look at the Veteran’s Memorial in our Courthouse yard, I know that many made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom so that we can worship as we choose, enjoy our rights and freedoms, and celebrate holidays such as Thanksgiving. I am thankful for each of our veterans, and those brave young men and women who serve today.

As the Pastor of the Patriot Baptist Church, I am thankful for each of our churches in the county and the ministry of each of them. John F. Kennedy in his 1961 Inaugural Address said, “Here on earth, God’s work must truly be our own”.

We are blessed in Switzerland County to have many churches that offer opportunities for service in many different ministries. I am thankful that we live in a nation where we can worship God as we choose. Each of our churches, have stood the test of time and stand ready to help those families in need and to serve God by serving others.

Finally as Superintendent of Schools, I am thankful for our school system and each of the employees and students who make up the Switzerland County School Corporation. We have a great school corporation and I am thankful that as Superintendent, I have the opportunity to work with our young people. Our youth are our greatest resource, and the future of our county. I am thankful for each of our students and wish each of them of them success in their endeavors.

Finally, I am thankful for my family and friends. I hope that everyone will take the time to thank God for His many blessings and remember that everyday should be a day of thanks.
