School settles teacher contract

The Switzerland County School Board officially approved a new master contract with the Central Teachers Association for the 2007-2008 school year.

The contract, which covers all certified teachers in the school corporation, was approved unanimously by the school board. It had previously been approved by the teachers prior to the school board’s consideration.

The contract gives the teachers a 2.5-percent raise; and also gives the teachers a one time payout of 1/2-percent of their salary to help with the increase in health insurance costs.

Following the approval of the contract, the school board also approved giving the one time, 1/2-percent payment to non-certified staff and administrators to help with insurance costs.

The school board had previously approved a 2.5-percent pay raise for non-certified and administrators.
