School hirings approved

The Rising sun Ohio County School Board met Thursday, Aug. 10th for its regular monthly meeting.

Jennifer (Turner) Parsons was hired as eighth and ninth grad math teacher after Carrie Barwick left to teach in Switzerland County.

Because of an increase in class size, superintendent Branden Roeder reported the hire of Jennifer (Brock) Craig as third grade teacher. She will be paid from the Rainy Day Fund for a year. There are now close to 90 students in the third grade, said Roeder.

Aryn (Peters) Webster was named to Craig’s position while DeAnn Lillie will take Webster’s position. Roeder will post for Lillie’s paraprofessional position.

Maternity leave was approved for Carrie Jones and approved nine days of sick pay from her husband Chris Jones account to hers.

Jessica Holland was approved as a one on one aide to be paid through ROD.

The board will have its annual budget hearing on Sept. 19th with adoption Oct. 5th.
