The Switzerland County School Board will hold its annual reorganization meeting this Monday, January 13th; and is also expected to fill the vacancy on the school board at the same meeting.
The meeting will be held at 5 p.m. at the administration offices on West Main Street, and is open to the public.
On the agenda is the reorganization of the board, including the election of a board President, Vice President, and Secretary. The school board will also appoint a corporation treasurer and deputy treasurer; and a school board attorney.
The board will also set its meeting dates and times for the coming year; and will set their school board salaries for 2014. Bonds for school personnel will be approved; and board members will be appointed to the negotiations committee; the endowment committee; the internal review committee; and the grounds committee.
Conflict of interest statements will be signed as needed.
The school board, which is expected to interview candidates for the vacant seat representing Posey Township tonight (Thursday); is also expected to fill that vacancy on Monday night. It is anticipated that the vacancy will be filled prior to the official reorganization.
The vacancy was created with the resignation of Vern Waltz.
In other business, the school board will consider approval of a designated endowment fund of the Community Foundation.
The board will break from its regular meeting for a board of finance meeting, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. In that meeting the school board will approve board of finance information; nominate the board of finance; review the investment policy; review the investment report; approve depositories; and see the outstanding check report.
Following the conclusion of the Board of Finance meeting; in other business of the board the school board will accept a $19,000 donation from Jerrold and Lisa Fisher for the football and cheerleader programs and also the music department.
