The Switzerland County School Board will hold its first monthly meeting of the new year and also its reorganization meeting this Monday, January 9th.
The meeting will be held at the Switzerland County Administrative offices.
The school board will meeting in executive session beginning at 4:30 p.m. According to Indiana law, the school board is citing Indiana Code 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(9): “To discuss a job performance evaluation of an individual employee. This subdivision does not apply to a discussion of the salary, compensation, or benefits of employees during a budget process.”
The executive session is closed to the public.
The open meeting of the school board will begin at 6 p.m.; and items on the agenda include:
– Reorganization of the Board: The board will hold nominations for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Corporation Treasurer.
The board will also consider a recommendation for a deputy treasurer; and hold nominations for school board attorney.
The board will set its meeting times and dates for the coming year; and will also set school board salaries. Bonds for school personnel will be set.
The board will make appointments to the negotiations committee; the endowment committee; the internal review committee; and the grounds committee; and will sign ‘Conflict of Interest’ statements.
- In New Business: The board will consider approval of the Board of Finance information; and will take nominations for the board of finance; review investment policies; review the investment report; approve depositories; and hear an outstanding checks report.
– Personnel: The board is expected to employ a secretary for the corporation.
– There will also be a time for consideration of professional leave requests; use of facilities requests; public comments; announcements and reports from the superintendent; and reports and comments by members of the school board.
