The Switzerland County School Board is expected to award bids for the expansion of Switzerland County Elementary School at its meeting this Monday, November 5th.

An executive session will begin at 4 p.m.; and will be held at the administration offices at 1040 West Main Street, Vevay. The executive session is closed to the public. Indiana law requires that a public entity cite the specific Indiana Code allowing the closed door meeting. For Monday’s meeting, the school board is citing IC 5-14-1.5-6.1(b) (9): “To discuss a job performance evaluation of individual employees. This subdivision does not apply to a discussion of the salary, compensation, or benefits of employees during a budget process.”

The school board is also citing IC 5-14-1.5-6.1-(b)(2)(B): “Initiation of litigation or litigation that is either pending or has been threatened specifically in writing.”

A public meeting has been scheduled for 5 p.m., also at the administration building. That meeting is open to the public.

Items on the agenda include the awarding of bids for the expansion and renovation of Switzerland County Elementary School; a STEM library grant agreement with the Community Foundation of Switzerland County; and administrators contracts.

Other items listed under new personnel are extra curricular recommendations for middle school girls golf; seventh grade girls basketball; freshman boys basketball; and a volunteer coach for the high school wrestling program.

There will also be time for public comments, professional leave requests; use of facilities requests; announcements and reports by the superintendent; and board reports and comments.
