Rising Sun Ohio County School Board members hired an additional first grade teacher for the 2017-18 school year at its meeting on Thursday, May 11th.
Jacey Spoonmore will fill the new position.
Also, the board named former Shiners Heather (White) Cook and Kayln (Montgomery) Grubbs to share the cheerleader coaching position, which had been held by Ronna Billingsley. Cook previously served as cheer coach at South Dearborn. Both are former Shiner cheerleaders.

In other business:
-Ron Lewellyn was awarded the HVAC bid.
– Midwest Transit won the bid to replace two school buses.
– Approval was given to Caitlin Sauerhage and Jennifer Mossburger to take a group of seventh and eighth graders for an overnight trip to visit Indiana University and Butler University.
– The next meeting will be June 15th at 6:30 p.m.
