School Board meets this Monday

The Switzerland County School Board will hold its regular monthly meeting this Monday, June 18th. The meeting will be held at the administration offices on West Main Street, and will begin with an executive session.

The Switzerland County School Board will hold its regular monthly meeting this Monday, June 18th. The meeting will be held at the administration offices on West Main Street, and will begin with an executive session.
The executive session, which is closed to the public, will begin at 5:30 p.m. In accordance with Indiana law, public entities must cite the specific code that allows the meeting to be held in private. For Monday’s meeting, the school board is citing IC 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(5): “To receive information about and interview prospective employees”; and IC 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(2): “For discussion of strategy with respect to any of the following: (A) Collective bargaining (B) Initiation of litigation or litigation that is either pending or has been threatened specifically in writing.”

Following the executive session, the school board will hold an open public meeting beginning at 6 p.m.
Items on the agenda includes reports by board committees and a legislative update by the superintendent; as well as public comments.
In old business, the board will consider the approval of the 2018-2019 Parent/Student Handbook for Switzerland County Elementary School.
In new business, the board will consider the approval of school personnel bonds; approval of the Ad-Tech USF funding contract; and consider bus route modifications.
In personnel, the board will also consider employment recommendations.
