The Switzerland County School Board has been honored with an “Outstanding School Board” designation by the Indiana School Board Association.
The local board earned the award by having members attend and participate in professional development opportunities provided by the association.
The professional development includes: school law, collective bargaining, school finance, leadership, and other issues related to school boards.
Switzerland County School Board members Andy Truitt, Nancy Peters, and Wayne Daugherty were recognized for individual points earned by attending sessions throughout the year.
The Switzerland County School Board also earned this recognition for the 2011-2012 school year.
In a related note: Indiana School Board Association Executive Director Frank Bush is retiring this year, and when he was recognized for his service, he noted that his first teaching job was teaching government at Vevay High School.
