The Switzerland County Awareness Team – SCAT – is a partner with five other Local Coordinating Councils from the surrounding area (called SELE3T).
The organization recently received a grant from Interact for Health (formerly the Greater Cincinnati Health Foundation) for prevention planning related to the opioid crisis in the area.
Recently the group had its first meeting on beginning to gather information specific to Switzerland County related to the county’s growing concern of an increase in substance use.
“The meeting was one of our best-attended meetings with Judge Coy, Superintendent Mike Jones, several other school personnel, DCS, KDH as well as several other key community stake holders present,” Martin Justice, SCAT Coordinator, said. “We will take the information gathered and will be publishing a comprehensive plan to reduce substance use. Our goal is to then get an implementation grant.”
Anyone who would like to know more about this group, or how they can be a part of it, should contact Martin Justice at (812) 537-7375.
