Indiana State Representative Randy Frye was in Switzerland County on Sunday afternoon to present the state’s highest honor -the ‘Sagamore of the Wabash’ – to Kirk Works. The award, which Representative Frye presented on behalf of Governor Eric Holcomb, is the highest and most prestigious honor that a citizen of the state of Indiana can have bestowed upon them. Works is certainly deserving, having served the county for decades. He has served as the President of the Swiss Wine Festival for many years, leading the festival from Main Street to the Paul Ogle Park, where it has grown to become one of the best-known and best-attended festivals in the entire state. Works also served on the Vevay Town Council; is a member of the Switzerland County Lions Club; and has served on numerous boards and committees, all for the betterment of the community.
