The Switzerland County Lady Pacer basketball team will be participating in the ‘Rumble on the River’ tournament at Southwestern High School beginning today (Thursday, December 29th).

Coach Ashley Kitts’ squad will play August in the 11-team tournament. Because of the size of the tourney, games will be held in the Main Gym at Southwestern; and also in the school’s new auxiliary gym, which is located directly behind the parking lot of the main gym.

The tournament opens at 10 a.m., with McCutcheon High School playing Scottsburg in the Main Gym, while Fishers High School plays South Ripley in the Auxiliary Gym.

Switzerland County plays Austin in the third game of the tourney on Thursday at 11:45 a.m. in the Auxiliary Gym. In the Main Gym, Southwestern will play Connersville High School.

At 1:30 p.m. Thursday, game five pits Charlestown and Columbus East in the Auxiliary Gym; while game six features Madison playing the winner of the Fishers-South Ripley game in the Main Gym.

If Switzerland County wins its opening game against Austin, the Lady Pacers will play the winner of the Charlestown-Columbus East game at 5 p.m. on Thursday in the Main Gym.

If the Lady Pacers win that game, they will then play the winner of the McCutcheon-Scottsburg game in the Main Gym tomorrow (Friday, December 30th) at 11:45 a.m.

Win that game and Switzerland County would advance to the championship game, which will be played on Friday, December 30th at 5 p.m.

If Switzerland County loses its opening game against Austin, the Lady Pacers will play the loser of the Southwestern-Connersville game at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday in the Main Gym.

If the Lady Pacers win that game, they would play at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in the Main Gym; if they would lost that game, they would play Borden High School at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in the Auxiliary Gym.

All teams are guaranteed to play three games.

Tickets for the tournament are $10 for the day; or there is a $15 ticket for the entire tournament. A tickets gets fans into every game of the tournament each day.
