Rivertown Classic takes to the court

This year’s Rivertown Classic Basketball Tournament in Aurora is underway.

The tournament began yesterday (Wednesday), when the girls teams played.

Switzerland County opened the tourney with a game against Rising Sun; and South Dearborn and Lawrenceburg played in the second game.

The same draw is set for the boys tournament, as the Pacers and the Shiners open the boys portion of the tourney (Thursday), beginning at 6 p.m.; followed by South Dearborn and Lawrenceburg.

Tomorrow (Friday) night is consolation game night, with the four losing teams from the semifinals squaring off. The girls consolation game will begin at 6 p.m.; followed by the boys consolation.

Tomorrow night is also the cheerleader competition, with the Switzerland County varsity cheerleading squad competing between the two consolation games. The winners of the cheerleading competition will be announced at halftime of the boys consolation game; and the winning and second place squads will perform on Saturday night.

The girls championship game begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday night, January 5th; followed by the boys title game.

Tickets are available at the door during the tournament.
