Both the boys and girls varsity teams from Switzerland County High School are participating in the Rivertown Classic at South Dearborn, which began last night (Wednesday), and runs through this Saturday, January 8th.
The opening round of the girls tournament last night featured South Dearborn versus Rising Sun and Switzerland County versus Lawrenceburg.
Tonight (Thursday), the opening round of the boys tournament features South Dearborn against Rising Run at 6 p.m.; followed by Switzerland County versus Lawrenceburg at 7:30 p.m.
During the Pacer-Tiger game tonight, the Switzerland County Pacer band will be playing.
Tomorrow (Friday), the consolation games will be played, with the losers from Wednesday night’s girls games playing at 6 p.m.; and the losers from Thursday night’s boys games playing at 8 p.m.
Also tomorrow night, the cheerleader competition will be held between the games. The cheer squads from the four competing schools will be performing, with the winning team being announced at halftime of the boy’s consolation game.
The championship games will then be played this Saturday, January 7th, with the girls championship game starting at 6 p.m.; and the boys championship game slated to begin at approximately 8 p.m.
The cheerleading winners and runner up will also be performing during the championship games.
– New this year is a junior varsity Rivertown Classic, which is being played in various locations.
A change in the lineup is that the championship games will now be played at Lawrenceburg this Saturday morning. Those games had initially been set to be played here at Switzerland County, but have now been moved to the Lawrenceburg gym.
The girls championship game will be played at 10 a.m. and will feature Lawrenceburg and South Dearborn; with the boys championship game starting at approximately 11:30 a.m. also pitting Lawrenceburg against South Dearborn.
There will be no consolation games for the junior varsity tournament.
