The Rising Sun Lady Shiners rolled through opponents to win the 2018 Rising Sun Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 29th.

Rising Sun defeated North Decatur in the final match of the day 25-16, 15-25 and 15-9.

The Lady Shiners had a season best 97.7 percent serving in the championship. Grace Bujack led the way with 10-for-11 and four aces. Cora Poling and Abby Wallace had two aces each with     Kassidy Romans and Sydney Bostic one ace each.

Danyka Groover led the hitting attack with eight kills. Lindsay Montgomery. Poling and Bujack had four kills each.

Bujack and Romans led the team with 12 serve receptions. Bostic had 15 assists and Romans nine digs.

Rising Sun opened the day with a 25-5, 25-18 win over Switzerland County.

Groover and Montgomery led the way with eight kills. Groover had three blocks and Montgomery one. Poling added five kills.

Romans was 13-for-13 with one ace. Tyrrah Miller was 7-for-8 with Bujack 8-for-9 and two aces.

Bostic had 16 assists with Bujack adding 10 serve receptions and Romans nine digs.

Rising Sun posted a 25-21, 25-19 win over South Dearborn.

Poling led the net attack with a season best 10-for-10 and six kills. Groover had five kills and three blocks with Montgomery adding seven kills.

Bostic was 8-for-8 with four aces. Miller was 9-for-10 with two aces. Poling was 7-for-8 and an ace. Romans was 6-for-6 and Wallace 3-for-3.

Bostic had 12 assists with White picking up 13 serve receptions.

 

Prior to the match, senior Lucy Phelps injured her ankle and could not compete.

Rising Sun improved to 17-9 on the season.

On Thursday, Rising Sun defeated South Decatur 14-25, 25-16, 20-25, 25-18 and 15-10 in an exciting five set match.

Groover led the way with 14 kills and seven blocks. Phelps had five kills and two blocks with Montgomery adding five kills.

Bostic was 16-for-17 with five aces. Romans was 13-for-13 with three aces followed by Phelps 11-for-13 and one ace, Wallace 11-for-12 and three aces, Bujack 8-for-8 and one ace, and White 5-for-6.

Bostic had 17 assists with White adding 15 digs and Romans 12 serve receptions.

Rising Sun was to close the regular season at home against Lawrenceburg on Tuesday.
