Rising Sun Regional Foundation Awards $250,550 in New Grants

The Rising Sun Regional Foundation (RSRF) awarded a total of $250,550 in 15 new grants in the last quarter.  These grants included:

– $40,000 to the Ohio County Community Foundation for matching  funds for Lilly Endowment’s GIFT VI program;

-$8,650 to the Ohio County Commissioners toward a grinder sewage system for its animal shelter;

-$4,000 to the City of Rising Sun toward new cabinetry for the clerk treasurer’s office;

– $5,000 to the City of Rising Sun toward the purchase of a pool vacuum for the community pool;

-$2,500 to the Ohio County Convention, Tourism, & Visitors Commission toward expenses for the 2015 Regatta;

-$18,000 to the Town of Versailles as a local match for its state (IOCRA) grant application for a storm drainage project;

-$40,000 to the Town of Holton as a local match for its state (IOCRA) grant application for storm drainage project;

-$5,000 to the Versailles Lions Club, on behalf of the Versailles American Legion, for the start-up of an American Legion Junior Shooting Program;

– $15,000 to the South Ripley Community School Corporation toward technology equipment called Mediascape;

– $40,000 to the Batesville Fire & Rescue and Morris Fire Department for 40 sets of SCBA air packs and compressors;

-$18,400 to the City of Aurora toward its Energy Light Savings Replacement program;

– $7,000 to the Oldenburg Academy toward upgrades for its electronic music lab;

– $40,000 to the Milan Community Emergency Relief toward  construction of a building for a new food pantry;

– $5,000 to the Milan Community School Corporation toward the purchase of sound amplification systems; and

-$2,000 to the Batesville Youth Football League toward the purchase of helmets and instructional equipment.

“We feel very fortunate that we are able to continue to work with community members and organizations, and help them meet some of the needs within our region,” said Jerry Smith, RSRF Board President. “The partnerships between community leaders, foundations, and nonprofit  organizations continue to grow, especially during these challenging times.”

Grant applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis. The next application deadline is July 15, and applications are available at www.rsrfonline.org.. The Rising Sun Regional Foundation began its grantmaking program in early 1997, which it has continued to implement. It is funded by the Rising Star Casino Resort, owned by Full House Resorts, Inc., which makes monthly contributions to the foundation based on a percentage of its Adjusted Gross Revenue.
