Reserves win on road fall at home


The Rising Sun Shiner reserves split its weekend of action with a win at New Washington and a loss at home to Oldenburg Academy.

Rising Sun took the hour and half drive down river and came home with a 50 to 42 win.

The Shiners led 8-6 after one quarter but trailed 22-20 at the half. They opened up a 41-31 lead after three quarters and held off a fourth quarter surge to win 50-42.

Freshman Landon Cole led the Shiners with 12. Chris Bowne added nine with Daniel Daugherty and Jake Powell scoring eight each. Brent Webb scored four, Dalton Vinup three and two each by Peyton Bell, Bryce Abner and Max Bowne.

Oldenburg Academy posted a 62-53 win over the Shiners on Saturday.

The Shiners trailed 14-6 after one quarter but pulled to within one, 24-23, at the half. Oldenburg led 45-28 after three quarters.

Landon Cole scored 14 of his game high 18 points in the second half including a pair of 3-pointers.

Chris Bowne had 17 points including five 3-pointers. Jake Powell added 10 points with a pair of 3-pointers. Max Bowne added a 3-pointer with Brent Webb adding three points and Daniel Daugherty two.
