The Southeastern Indiana Solid Waste District (SISWD) has placed a recycling container for Switzerland County residents at the Patriot Fire Department located at 442 Fourth Street in Patriot.
Accepted recyclables include: aluminum and steel cans, plastics #1-#7 (no lids, please), glass jars and bottles of any color, newspaper, cardboard, paper bags and envelopes, paperboard (cereal and soft drink boxes, etc.), junk mail, magazines, mixed paper, telephone books, and clean empty pizza boxes.
Users should refrain from dumping any regular garbage in the container as trash contamination results in the loss of recyclables.
Other recycling facilities in Switzerland County include the Switzerland/Ohio County Recycling Center and the Switzerland County Building Materials Reuse Center, located at 19 McCreary Ridge Road in East Enterprise. Business hours are Monday: 1-5 p.m.; Wednesday 2-6 p.m.; and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon.
A SISWD Reuse Center is located in Vevay at 507 Walnut Street. Business hours are Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 5 p.m.; and 8 a.m. until noon on Saturdays.
