The Switzerland County FFA chapter will again sponsor its “Queen of Hearts” pageant this Sunday afternoon, February 26th. The pageant will be held in the high school cafeteria, and will begin at 2:30 p.m.
The contest is unique in that its primary focus to for the contestants to demonstrate leadership and scholastic achievement. Each of the candidates is asked to develop a community platform as part of the competition, and during the pageant each will be asked to share their platform with the judges and the audience, and why that platform is important to the Switzerland County community.
The platform of the winning contestant will be adopted by the Switzerland County FFA chapter, which will work during the coming year to assist the furtherance of the program for the betterment of the community
Contestants will also be judged on their personal interview, sports wear, their platform, evening gown, and their response to a question.
Everyone is invited to attend the event, with all proceeds going to ‘Military Awareness’, the platform of last year’s winner, Dru Morgan.

Here’s a look at this year’s “Queen of Hearts” pageant contestants:
JENNIFER FOUTCH is the foster daughter of Kathy Tremain of Vevay. She is a member in the flag corps, student council, pep club and high school choir. She has had a poem called “Secret” published in two books; and “I’m Afraid” published in a book, “Bus monitor”. She plans to go to college for four years to receive a bachelor’s degree in social work. She is sponsored by S & S Grocery Store in East Enterprise.
BRENNA GREEN is the daughter of Joe and Kaulene Green of Popcorn Ridge. She is a member of the pep club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Drama Club. She has earned inclusion on the ‘All A’ Honor Roll, is a member of the National Honor Society and is a varsity cheerleader. She is a member of East Enterprise United Methodist Church. She plans to attend Manchester College and study biochemistry. She is sponsored by Karries Kuts and Kurls.
KARA RENAE HUDSON is the daughter of Anthony and Cindy Hudson of near East Enterprise. She is a member of the French Club and is the president of her sophomore class. She has earned inclusion in the ‘All A’ Honor Roll and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She plans on helping with the AIDS Foundation and pursuing a career at Children’s Hospital as a pediatrician or a psychiatrist for teens. She is sponsored by Hair It Is and owner Erica Green.
MORGAN E. NAY is the daughter of Rodney and Sally Nay of Vevay. She is a member of the pep club, French Club, FFA and choir. She is also a member of the National Junior Honor Society, and the Junior Historical Society. She has earned inclusion on the honor roll and received many 4-H achievements. She participated in The King’s Daughters’ Hospital Junior Leader Association; and plans on attending college to pursue a career in medicine. She is sponsored by Edelweiss Floral.
SYDNEY LEE PIKE is the daughter of Billy and Tanya Pike of Bennington. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, pep club, and newspaper staff. She has earned inclusion on the ‘All A’ honor roll; and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is junior class secretary; and is a varsity cheerleader. She was the 2004 Edelweiss Teen Princess; and 2005 Miss Switzerland County second runner-up. She plans to attend Northern Kentucky University or University of Southern Indiana to major in business. She is sponsored by the Schenck Mansion Bed and Breakfast.
JENNA SOUTH is the daughter of Mike and Volina South of near Vevay. She is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, prayer group, lettermans club and the newspaper staff. She is a varsity cheerleader; and participates in varsity softball; she is co-president of FCA. She volunteers at the Kiwanis Club Golf Scramble and helps out at the Lord’s Cupboard handing out food. She is hoping to go to Indiana University and receive a degree in nursing or as a dental hygienist. She is sponsored by Richardson’s Industries.
Ashley Thornton is the daughter of Renee Dixon and Greg Thornon of Vevay. She is a member of the drama club and the French Club. She is also active and a member of Switzerland County 4-H. Her honors include “Who’s Who among American High School Students”; and has earned inclusion on the National Honor Roll. Her ambition is to become a mortician or an emergency doctor. She is sponsored by Thornton’s Garage.
EMILEE WALDRON is the daughter of Greg and Dorie Peelman of East Enterprise and Tony Waldron of Versailles. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FFA, pep club and 4-H. She participates in cross country, softball, and is a cheerleader. She has earned inclusion on the ‘All A’ Honor Roll, and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She plans on becoming a plastic and reconstructive surgeon and live a happy and healthy life. She is sponsored by Tom T’s Electric Service.
KATIE Wright is the daughter of B.J. Wright of Garland Road and the late Jerry Wright. She is a member of the pep club, conservation club, drama club and French Club. She is an FFA officer and is on the newspaper staff. She has participated in 4-H for 10 years. She is reigning Edelweiss Princess. She represented Switzerland County in the Indiana State Festivals Association Pageant; and was selected “Class Flirt” by her senior classmates. She plans on attending the University of Southern Indiana in the fall of 2006 and majoring in broadcasting. She is sponsored by Swiss Alps Printing.
