Purdue Extension sets series of workshops


Purdue Extension Switzerland County has announced a series of upcoming workshops.

• A Woodland Management and Timber Marketing Considerations Workshop will be held at the Bear Branch Fire House at 2855 Milton Bear Branch Road on Wednesday, December 6th at 6:30 p.m.

Participants in this program will learn how to effectively manage their woodlands. Topics to be discussed include basic woodland management and considerations for marketing and selling timber. This program is for anyone with a few trees to acres of woods.

Program sponsors include the Dearborn County, Ohio County and Switzerland County offices of Purdue Extension, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, and NRCS.


• A Wildlife Management Strategies program will be held at the Switzerland County Technology and Education Center on Tuesday, December 12th at 6:30 p.m.

The program will focus on strategies to manage wildlife. Participants will learn the steps to develop sustainable habitats for animals including food plots. We will also discuss strategies to manage and utilize wildlife on your property.

• The Local Foods and Direct Marketing Workshop will focus on the marketing of local foods. Participants in the program will learn how to sell their produce through local markets, use social media to promote your business, and marketing considerations for local markets. This is a great program for anyone wanting to sell local foods and produce.

The program will be held at the Jefferson County Extension Office at 3767 West State Road 256, Madison, on Tuesday, December 19th at 6:30 p.m. Reservations are required. Please call the Switzerland County Extension Office at (812) 427-3152 to make a reservation.
