After 30 months of planning, design and red tape, the Patriot Water Utility held groundbreaking ceremonies on Wednesday, August 30th to celebrate the start of construction on the largest water system improvement project in its history.
In order for the project to begin, Patriot Water Utility had to obtain over 20 miles of private property water main easements, state highway permits, and county right-of-way permits.
The utility has obtained two new groundwater well sites and two tank sites. The tank sites will be used for a new 250,000-gallon elevated storage tank at East Enterprise and for a new 275,000-gallon ground storage tank. In addition, a new booster station will be built on McCreary Ridge Road.
Upon completion, more than 20 miles of new water mains will be installed. There will be upgrades made to the Fairview and Quercus Grove booster stations. Emergency generators will be added to wells and booster stations.
The $4,750,000 project, funded by the Indiana State Revolving Fund, is scheduled for completion in September of 2007.
