Thank goodness the Vevay and Patriot Town Board elections are a thing of the past. To the losers, just remember the majority rules — regardless of whether they are right or wrong. To the winners, I pray that you seriously strive to do your best for all of the people you represent regardless of personal prejudices and petty jealousies.

Don’t you hate the time change! My 7:15 a.m. alarm cat is totally confused!

I’m looking forward to the Ladies’ Bazaar Christmas Open House this Friday and Saturday, November 8th-9th.

The East Enterprise Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a Pot Luck Benefit Dinner for Firefighter Ron Brunner this Saturday, November 9th, from 3-7 p.m. at Station #1 located at 13091 State Road 56 in East Enterprise. Ron has been a volunteer firefighter with East Enterprise Volunteer Fire Department for well over 10 years and could use some help with some medical expenses that he has recently incurred. He personally helped me clean up after my house fire seven years ago this month and he is truly, a good and hardworking member of our community. In addition to the dinner, donations for a Raffle and Silent Auction are being collected. Contact Bev (812) 534-2080 or Violet (812) 534-3602 to plan for those items. There will be a free will offering made that night with all proceeds going directly to Firefighter Brunner.

The Patriot Baptist Church’s Annual Veterans Service will be held this Sunday, November 10th, at 11 a.m. A luncheon will be held after the service at the Patriot Town Hall. The community is invited. The Patriot Baptist Church was built in 1889 and is located at 156 Main Street in Patriot.

The Posey Tappers monthly meeting set for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12th will include last minute planning for the Craft Day at the TEC Center on Thursday, November 14th with 10 a.m. registration.

The Vevay Music Club also meets on Tuesday, November 12th at 7:30 p.m. at the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church, 309 W. Main Street in Vevay.

The November meeting of the Red HOT Hatters will be on Friday, November 15th, at 11 a.m. at Janet’s Diner located in Dillsboro, Indiana. Arrangements are being made to carpool. Contact Kay E. Cook at (812) 594-2281 for additional information.

Prayer List: Firefighter Ron Brunner, Bill Higgins, Eva Fette, Connie Knight, Reverend Steve Ward, Travis Bailey, Bonnie Simon, Eric Simon, Emilee McKay, Abby Galbreath, Ellyn Kern and Jerry Brown, John Campbell, Sharon and Bill Levell, Jake and Mickie Rader, Patty Banschbach and Red HOT Hatters Carla Burt, Mary Christiani, Sandy Dawson, Juanita Giltner, Barb Dowdy, Laura Riga and June Lack.

I received a very sweet card from Daisy Swanson this past week. Her sister Doris Chase had stopped by the yard dales that Patty Chase and I had last month hunting for a ring stand for Daisy. Daisy even came once and finally, I found it!  I had a porcelain one that I left with Doris when I voted in Vevay. I knew I had one but couldn’t remember where I’d stashed it. I’m so glad that it found a good home now with Daisy.
