I am officially tired of the heat! Fresh from a cold shower once I venture outside, I am officially drenched in less than 10 minutes time and since ladies don’t sweat, I am ‘glowing’ far beyond my wildest expectations. I know my neighbors probably hate me because my yard is a mess and most probably will continue to be until it cools down some. Mowing – not one of my favorite pastimes – must be done in integrals to prevent me from simply ‘glowing’ myself into extinction. Sorry, Folks! At least we have a privacy fence up halfway around!

Tom, Janice, Megan Meadors and Shannon Garland attended the wedding of Walter Barnes and Aly Minks, which was held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23rd, at the Rising Sun Church of Christ. After the wedding, those attending enjoyed dinner by Rolling Pin Catering, which consisted of Ham, Chicken and gravy, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, green beans, salad, vegetable trays, and various drinks.  One of the big attractions at the reception was the Photo Booth. Guests were asked to pose with various props for pictures that would be saved on a CD for the bride and groom to enjoy later. Walt and Aly are spending their honeymoon in Michigan, hiking and camping.

We had a full house for Mass at the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church July 23rd and included in those attending were the seven siblings of the Holzer family celebrating their yearly reunion. The four sisters and three brothers gathered at property owned by two of the brothers in Moorefield. Included were Marie and Don Strobel (Franklin Indiana); Joan and Leon Sarringhaus (Hollister California); Patricia Durlacher (Jacksonville Florida); Aletha and Jr. Heaton (Cross Plains Indiana); Cletus and Kathi Holzer (Trion Georgia); John and Carol Holzer (Versailles Indiana); and Mark and Janet Holzer (Kernersville North Carolina). Only eight years and two months separate the first born Marie from the youngest Mark. Besides attending Mass, Aletha reports that the family had great week fishing, playing cards and board games, picking blackberries and making jam. This is an annual event for the entire family who maybe planning next year’s event at Yosemite National Park in California.
