On Thursday, August 8th, Galen and Billie Green, and Ivan and Dollie Green ate at the Belterra Buffet. Ivan and Dollie Green spent the weekend of August 10th at the Azbells. Saturday, August 11th, they enjoyed the Indiana State Fair. They went through the 4-H exhibits where they saw their nephew’s, Sam White’s photography project, where he got a blue ribbon. Elijah Green of Madison spent the weekend with his  grandma, Deanna Green. Bailey Jackson also helped care for Elijah.

 Concord Church met on Wednesday night, August 21st, for their yearly family night. It was a fun night starting out with a pitch-in dinner, followed by entertainment from the Widner family, Concord Men’s gospel singing group, Kassidy Widner singing Jesus Loves Me accompanied by a cup and Gabriel Rose, and Concord’s own Kitchen Band that was revived for this special occasion. Those in attendance were Linda Smith, Taylor and Raylinn Kappes, Tony and Mary Christiani, Jay and Wanda Benzing, Steve and Sharon Ward, Gabriel and Ethan Rose, Emily Campbell, Jerry and Joanne Hon, Donald and Lulu Belle Thomas, Albert and Cleo Detmer, Juanita Detmer, Larry and Myra Spoores, John Spoores, Joy Spoores, Estene Leap, Adam and Anne Rose, Addie and Porter Rose, Sip, Doreen, and Josh Sippel, Bill and Bonnie Schreiner, Jim and Reva Johnson, Meredith Luhrs, Sarah, Broadus, Fiona, Angus, and Eva Thompson, Dennis and Paula Hollin, Kay Cook, Allen, Janice, Liz, Kassidy, and Emily Widner, Michelle, Allison, and Alisha Detmer, and June Lock. A fun time was had by all.

 On Friday evening, August 23rd, Donna Brady, Linda Smith, Joyce Thornton of Madison, Janice Ramsey, Keith Brown from Washington, Raylinn and Taylor Kappes gathered at the home of Brenda Bethel in Warsaw, Kentucky for a nice visit. Keith, who is Janice’s brother and Donna and Joyce’s uncle, was in from Washington and had a nice visit with everyone.

 The Posey Pioneer’s 4-H Club took part in the Swiss Wine Festival Parade. Members of the 4-H group carried the banners for the winning parade floats. The 4-H members in attendance were Emerson Schroer, Brianna Vinup, Kobe Chatham, Raylinn Kappes, Allison and Alisha Detmer, Jeana Rayles, Tessia Renyer, Sydney Powers, Lisa Cunningham, Kassidy and Emily Widner. It was a great parade with beautiful floats.

 On Sunday, August 25th, the Kappes family celebrated Taylor Kappes’ 4th birthday. She turned 4 on August 26th. They had dinner and birthday cake. Those in attendance were Ben, Patti, Raylinn, and Taylor Kappes, Joe and Donna Brady, Linda Smith, Judy Kappes and friend Lloyd Gibson, Andrea, Alice, Chris, and Nathan Kappes, Laura, Emerson, and Sam Schroer, Cheryl and Ethan Hussong, Doris Webb of Indianapolis and her friend’s daughter Zophia. The children had a great time playing together and Taylor enjoyed all her birthday gifts.

Recipe from Aunt Bea:

Lemon Coconut Clouds

1 box lemon cake mix

1 1/2 cups of cool whip

1 egg

1/2 cup coconut

3/4 cup of powdered  sugar

Preheat oven to 350*

Spray two cookie sheets with non stick spray

In large bowl beat all ingredients except the powdered sugar with mixer.

Put powdered sugar in shallow dish.

Roll heaping tsp. of dough in sugar.

Place on cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes.

Let cool
