The Patriot Town Board is complete again!

I was sworn in by Patriot Town Clerk Linda Fisk last Monday during the monthly meeting and became the latest member of the Patriot Town Board. Elizabeth Thomas sworn in during the March meeting was elected to the position of Town Board President. We join Gordon Wayne Turner, Jr. in completing the Town Board. A business meeting followed and was well attended by Patriot residents. Sgt. John Mills of the Switzerland County Sheriffs Office and Tom Moore of Emergency Management were present and contributed also. Elizabeth G. Thomas is the daughter of Charjeana and Gayle Thomas and the mother of 4 year-old son, Bentley.

The May Meeting of the Patriot Town Board has been moved from the normal first Monday to Tuesday, May 10th at 6 p.m.

When we got the call that the newspaper wanted our photo, Liz Thomas and I had to find a suitable photographer, which we did in Brittany Fisse and her little brother/assistant Hunter Fisse. So the photo in the paper last week was taken by Brittany on the riverbank right outside Town Hall. Thank you Brittany!

Sincere condolences and prayers of comfort go to all of the George Miller family. George B. Miller, age 55, passed away amidst family on Wednesday, April 6th. George served over 30 years with the Patriot Volunteer Fire Department as first a Volunteer Firefighter and finally a past Fire Chief. George designed the Patriot Memorial Park and was very instrumental in getting a piece of steel from the 9/11 Twin Towers. Just the day before his passing, the Town Board acquired concrete statues of a fireman and a police officer to place beside that 9/11 Memorial.
