What a week it has been.
As many of you probably noticed, my article last week was very short compared to my normal writings. The reason for that was because I had been sick. The 24 hour bug that has been sweeping through Switzerland County finally hit our house. I have to say I haven’t been that sick in years.
After assuring everyone I know that it was just a bug and not COVID I sat down to write my article and just had no energy to do so. I would like to thank my boyfriend Will for taking care of me. Kathryn Turner, Roseanne Schurick and Vanessa McGrath for checking on me over the weekend and making sure I was doing well. It is a wonderful feeling to know that people love you and want you to be well.
I am now back to feeling like myself. Being sick is no fun and I hope and pray everyone who is feeling poorly has the same kind of support system I have. God has definitely blessed me.
Blessings are coming full circle this week at the Patriot Baptist church as they are continuing a grand celebration of Vacation Bible School. This three day event started on Tuesday, July 19th, and wraps up tonight (Thursday) July 21st from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Children ages pre-k to middle school are welcomed for Bible lessons, games, music and snacks. It is sure to have been good time for all involved.
Tonight (Thursday), the last night of VBS, there is going to be a cookout at the park. Let’s try to make this one a time to remember, and have the children of Patriot have a big celebration before the new school year starts up.
Speaking of the school year starting up, we are getting closer for the beginning of the 2022-2023 year. Being prepared is always key, so if you are out and about trying to get some supplies ahead of time, it’s better to buy early then get it at the end and the stores be out of your child’s favorite items. August is just around the corner.
The Town Board and Water Superintendent would like to invite all Patriot water customers to the August meeting in order to discuss the pros and cons of removing fluoride from the water here in Patriot. Everyone is welcomed and your contributions are greatly appreciated. As a community we can only change things when we get involved.
This is an opportunity to speak your mind, and get answers to concerns you might have. As with most meetings of this nature there is the possibility of emotions running high, we need to remember that arguing and fighting will not solve anything, but calmness and working together we can make Patriot the wonderful place we know and love. The Water Company and Town Board need our help in preserving the good points of living in a river town in Southeastern Indiana. So stop out for the monthly meeting and get involved.
As the month of July has hit the middle we should look back on the wonderful month it has been. The Fourth of July celebration went off without a hitch. We had a wonderful turnout of people show up to help us celebrate. Neighbors came together to help each other, families and friends have gathered over the last few weeks for celebrations, we are definitely starting to come back to the normal summer activities. The other day I was listening to the sound of motorcycles passing by my house and I felt like there were at least 30 of them, the sound of summer in full swing. Hopefully we will get some rain this week, things are starting to dry out and to be safe we need rain before we have bonfires and cookouts.
Have a wonderful week everyone, thank you for understanding that sometimes I feel under the weather and my articles won’t be as informative, I appreciate everyone’s contributions and ideas.
