Children and teens are getting ready to enjoy some much needed time off. The teachers, administrators and staff are probably just as excited for the vacation time.
As we head into the final push of the year we need to take time to thank all of the faculty of Switzerland County Schools. Without their hard work and dedication the school year would not run smoothly.
Graduation is coming up soon and all the hard work these young men and women have put in will finally have paid off. I hope some of them have had time to talk to past graduates, to get some insight into what will happen next. In 10 years they will come together for a reunion just like the classes of Patriot High School have been doing for years and years.
We are now two weeks from the Patriot Alumni Dinner and I have to say I am getting excited. As I think about all the men and women who came through Patriot High School it makes me think about the seniors of today. The school year is coming close to the end, lots of things are happening now.
Saying thank you is such an easy thing to do, it takes no time at all and is greatly appreciated. If you are out and about in town this week and see Sue and Jeff Vansickle take a moment to thank them for all the work they have been doing getting the town beautiful for the spring and summer months. This past week they hung the banners to commemorate the soldiers for Memorial Day. They planted flowers to spruce up the sidewalk and have been keeping the town beautiful.
As we come upon Memorial Day it is a blink of an eye until the Fourth of July celebrations that will take place on July 2nd here in town. As always there is a parade and a memorial service following and this year the fallen soldier monument will be dedicated.
In order to keep everyone safe the town board asks that people not park at the boat ramp starting Midnight on July 2nd to Midnight on July 3rd. This year is going to be a good time as always and we have a lot to celebrate.
Celebrations are a wonderful part of summertime fun. People are starting to get their yards, pools, campers, and all outdoor fun activities ready for the upcoming months. If you are planning on enjoying some time out on the river, boating, swimming, fishing or any other river fun activities please use caution and practice water safety.
If you are fishing, have all the updated licenses you need, and those can be purchased right here in town at a B & B bait shop which is open for the season. If you get hungry or thirsty stop by the Patriot General Store for some refreshments. Summertime is a time to get out and enjoy ourselves.
I know there are many, many people who are not off over the summer. If possible take some time for yourselves, have fun in the sun and rejuvenate your soul.
Have a wonderful week everyone. Get out and enjoy yourselves. Be safe and take care of each other.
