Ivan and Dollie Green went to Indianapolis on Wednesday, December 5th, to the Azbells. They attended Sam Azbell’s Christmas program. They returned home on Thursday evening. Elijah Green came to Deanna Green’s and stayed for a few days. Ivan and Dollie Green attended Mike and Marlene Jones’ Christmas party at their lovely decorated home on Saturday, December 8th. On Sunday, December 9th, Ivan and Dollie Green celebrated Reesea Jackson’s birthday with a family dinner. Levi, Kaylee and Elijah Green of Madison visited with the Greens on Sunday evening.

On Sunday, December 9th, Brenda Bethel, Alicia Woods, Kassi Bovard, Kelsey Bovard, Kobe Chatham, Ben Bovard-Roberts, Kole Kelly, Patti, Raylinn and Taylor Kappes, Sue VanSickle, Zoey Rider, and Landon Rider went to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky to see the Southern Lights display. It was a nice evening and the children enjoyed the spectacular light display and getting to see Santa.

On Thursday, December 13th, Andrew and Dollie Green went to Indianapolis to the Azbells. They got to see Drew and Sam Azbells’ basketball games and enjoyed viewing the Christmas lights. Andrew Green had brunch on Sunday with an old friend he used to work with at Belterra.

Santa was in Patriot on Sunday, December 16th. The town enjoyed a pitch-in meal together and the kids got to see Santa. 

Patriot, Indiana Main Street will be sponsoring the Holiday Season decorating contest again this year along with various local businesses. Judging with be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 20th, and Friday, December 21st. If you live in town and have decorated your home for Christmas please remember to turn on your lights and these dates and times.

Patriot Baptist Church is having a Celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ on Sunday evening, December 23rd, at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and join for music, remembering loved ones, and sharing the Christmas Spirit.

Sympathy and prayers for the Bovard family with the passing of Carl Bovard.

Recipe from Aunt Bea:

Melt in your mouth “Toffee Pecan Cookies”

1/2 cup butter (melted)

1 box yellow cake mix

3 eggs

1 Tbsp. water

1 pkg. Heath toffee bits

1/2 cup (chopped) pecans

Preheat oven to 350*

Mix butter, cake mix, eggs, and water. Add toffee bites and pecans, (mix by hand.) Spoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-13 minutes. They won’t look done, but when cool, will be a soft chewy cookie.
