Janet Bond celebrated her birthday on Friday the 16th. Happy birthday Janet. Wanda Benzing treated her to lunch in Florence, Kentucky for her birthday. On their way traveling home on State Road 42 they took the road to Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. Janet said it was a nice drive. On Sunday, November 18th, Janet’s daughter, Bobby Patrick, took her to Concord Church for Sunday services. After church they went to the home of Juanita Detmer for lunch and a nice visit.

Linda Smith had a nice visit with her good friend Susie (Robinson) Centers. They enjoyed catching up and reminiscing about old times.

Ivan and Dollie Green and Galen and Billie Green enjoyed eating at the Belterra buffet on Wednesday evening.

Ivan and Dollie Green went to Indianapolis on Friday, November 16th, to the Azbells for the weekend. They enjoyed Sam Azbell’s basketball games and the Christmas Gift and Hobby Show at the state fairgrounds.

The Patriot Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary is still collecting donations for the 2012 PVFD Auxiliary Christmas drive in the Patriot area. Donations of new toys and nonperishable food are accepted along with cash donations. Donations can be dropped off at the Patriot Town Hall and Fisk’s Grocery. Checks can be made out to the PVFD Auxiliary and mailed to the Patriot Town Hall, P.O. Box 145, Patriot, IN 47038. Any questions can be directed to Linda Fisk by calling (812)594-2243 or (812)290-5540.

Any family needing assistance this Christmas can pick up an application at the Patriot Town Hall between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The applications are due in by December 9th. Food and gift baskets will be based on need. Recipients will be contacted when to pick up their food baskets and the gift baskets will be delivered on Christmas Eve.

Recipe from Aunt Bea:

 ” Pineapple Banana Hummingbird Mini Loaves”

1 box yellow cake mix

1 Large box Vanilla (instant) Pudding

4 eggs

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon cinnamon

20 oz. crushed pineapple (juice drained and 1 cup reserved)

2 (ripe, well mashed) bananas

1/2 cup (chopped) pecans.

Cream Cheese Glaze ( recipe below)

Preheat oven to 350*

Combine cake mix, pudding, reserved pineapple juice, eggs and oil in large bowl with mixer until blended. Pour batter into foil mini loaf pans sprayed with vegetable oil.

Bake 40 minutes. Cool completely

Drizzle with glaze over cooled loaves. Garnish with pecans

“Cream Cheese Glaze”

2 oz. softened cream cheese with 1 tablespoon milk and 1/2 cup powdered sugar.
