My suggestion to everyone in this part of Southeastern Indiana is to stay at home! Highway 156 down river from Patriot between Sandy Run and Wade Hill is still closed. I have seen signs forewarning of construction on 56/156 in both the Vevay and the Rising Sun areas. Add to that the horrible lane closures in Aurora and Lawrenceberg and the proposed construction around 465 in Indy, I am opting to just stay home!

The Patriot Baptist Youth will hold their first “Youth Encounter” this Sunday, April 28th, at 4 p.m. Music, pizza and lots of fun are on the agenda! Trayton Griffith will be the Special Guest providing music and a message. All ages are welcome! The Patriot Baptist Church is located at 156 Main Street (Highway 156).

May’s Red HOT Hatter meeting will be hosted by the Ridge Winery, 298 State Road Highway 156, Vevay on Friday, May 17th at 11 a.m. Food will be provided. Everyone is invited to attend. Red and purple clothing is not required. Neither are hats! No dues are collected. Mission statement for the group covers making new friends, having fun and eating delicious food! Hope to see you soon!

This year’s annual Vevay Music Club’s “Medley of Music” Concert will be on Tuesday, May 21st beginning at 7 p.m. at the Historic Hoosier Theater. Proceeds will benefit the Betty Swango Scholarship. Rehearsal is set for Monday, May 20th — also at 7 p.m.

Category winners will receive monetary prizes. Winners will be announced at the town picnic in the park.

Digging through my old files, I found an easy and quick recipe using Kool Aid. You can use any flavor of kool aid you like. You should try it.

STRAWBERRY

KOOL AID PIE

8 oz. –  Cool Whip

1 pkg (0.14 oz) – Unsweetend Strawberry Kool Aid

14 oz  – Sweetened Condensed Milk

1 – Graham Cracker Pie Crust

Combine whipped topping, strawberry kool-aid

and sweetened condensed milk.

 Beat well until well blended.

Pour into graham cracker crust.

Refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.

Top with whipped cream if desired and serve chilled.

Keep pie in refrigerator.
