Patriot News 04/14/2022

Yes, spring is in the air. I am hopeful it is the real spring and not the fake one we have been experiencing on and off for the last few weeks. I am not sure my sinuses can even tell the difference at this point. I know a lot of people are feeling the springtime sniffles — hopefully we will have some warmer weather and it will put us past the yuckies.

The cold, icky weather — which included a few snow and sleet showers — did not put a damper on the annual Easter egg hunt, even though the crowd was smaller than years past it was still a wonderful time. The Easter Bunny was driven through town on one of our own Patriot Fire Department Trucks. It was a wonderful site to behold. This time honored tradition helped us begin Holy Week, which will culminate on Easter Sunday. Patriot Baptist church will hold two services on April 17th. A sunrise service at 7 a.m., followed by breakfast; then a traditional service at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome.

On Friday, April 15th there is a community Lenten Fish Fry at the Masonic Lodge Building in Vevay on Bob Slawson Avenue from 4-7 p.m. Many people from Patriot are involved with this lodge and would love to see their neighbors out there showing support.

Showing our support for people in the area is not only for the adults, but also for the schools. This past week Rosa Jones — along with other students from Patriot — participated in a band competition where they earned a gold rating at the ISSMA concert contest. Congratulations to the band for all its hard work.

Soon the ballpark will be filled with games and practices. Let’s all try to get out and support the local teams. Hopefully the net will be placed here soon, and games will be on the horizon. It was nice to see all the children running around the ballpark looking for Easter eggs, the field will definitely be used this summer for all sorts of wonderful things.

Wonderful things are on the horizon for Patriot.  The Patriot Alumni is getting ready for its annual dinner to be held on May 28th at the school in East Enterprise. Reservations can be made to Carolyn Martin Stroobandt at 1115 Burgess Ave #301 Rising Sun, Indiana, 47040, you can call her at (812) 221-4454 to make your reservations. From all the stories I have heard recently it is going to be a good time, a day to get together with old and new friends. Walk down memory lane and go back to a simpler time.

As Easter is coming soon, I hope families can be together, Easter egg hunts in the yards. A dining room table surrounded by family and friends. Laughter and smiles everywhere, still let us say a prayer for all those who are mourning this holiday season.

Everyone have a wonderful week, enjoy the beautiful week. Please reach out and let me know what you did for Easter this year.
