Heads up! There are signs on Highway 156 down river from Patriot indicating a road closure on or about April 1st. The area involved appears to be the small bridge, on the curve, near North Bend Farms — downriver from Wade Hill and upriver from the Schroeder home.

Apparently the ‘bullet’ I thought I dodged during the March 14th storm hit me after all! A closer inspection by professionals reveals a ton of damage that I was not aware of. Super! Glad the damage will be repaired but not ecstatic about spending my deductible. Such is life!

The Red HOT Hatters second annual “Tea for Toni” held at the Schenck Mansion, on Sunday, was a huge success! My sincere appreciation to all who supported this event! Local businesses as well as the Red HOT Hatters and members of our community really helped make the difference. Obviously, Innkeepers Jenny and Steve Bennett and Schenck Mansion owners Lisa and Jerry Fisher were quite instrumental. We are so blessed to have these wonderful folks in our community!

During Vevay’s ‘First Friday’ Chalandamarz event on Friday, April 5th at 6 p.m., Father Christopher Craig will conduct the ‘Blessing of the Animals’ in the Opera Park on Ferry Street. Everyone is invited to bring their dogs for this special blessing.

April should be all about flowers and so the Red HOT Hatters will be venturing to the Stream Cliff Farm, Restaurant and Winery on Friday, April 12th at 11 a.m. The address for Stream Cliff is 8225 S. County Rd. 90 W in Commiskey Indiana. Drive time from Vevay is roughly an hour so I anticipate a caravan forming in the lot of the YMCA and leaving no later than 10 a.m. An advanced headcount would be helpful again by emailing RedHotHatter0312@yahoo.com or calling Kay Cook at (812) 594-2281.

May’s Red HOT Hatter meeting will be hosted by The Ridge Winery, 298 State Road Highway 156, Vevay on Friday, May 17th at 11 a.m. Food will be provided. Everyone is invited to attend. Red and purple clothing is not required. Neither are hats! No dues are collected. Mission statement for the group covers making new friends, having fun and eating delicious food! Hope to see you soon!

Prayer list: Emilee McKay, Abby Galbreath, Angie Haskell, the family of David Hewitt, Sue Bear, Ellyn Kern — wife of Jerry Brown, Aletha and Owen Heaton, John Campbell, Sharon and Bill Levell, Bruce Hutcherson, Irvin and Eva Fette, Jake Rader and Red HOT Hatters Barb Dowdy, Mary Christiani, Lura Riga and June Lack.
