Happy Birthday, Patty Chase! January 20th is the birthday of my BFF and Florence News correspondent. Patty, who is experiencing some health issues and needs our prayers. Patty, also known as the “P” of Vevay’s Infamous “P & G” — that being Patty and Glenda Sullivan — is known and loved by everyone in Switzerland County. This wonderful lady is truly a valued member of our community. Early on in my career as newspaper correspondent, she would invite me to all kinds of functions all over the county and made a point of introducing me to her friends — from the Shoe Factory, from her church, neighbors from Florence and various local celebrities including but not limited to members of the Hoosier Theater, East Enterprise Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Switzerland County Tourism and Switzerland County Homemakers. We love you, Patty!  Get better soon!

The Red HOT Hatters met last Thursday at Roxano’s in Vevay. Those in attendance were: Stasia Wiseman, Barbara Dowdy, Juanita Giltner, Marie Cole, Eileen Wiesmann, Shannon Phipps, Melanie Stepleton, Claudia Dawson and Kay Cook. The main topic of discussion remained the annual benefit tea — where and when?

The next Red HOT Hatters meeting will be on Friday, February 21st at the Thirsty Lemon in East Enterprise and will begin at 11 a.m.  The Thirsty Lemon Diner is located north of Highway 250 in East Enterprise. All are welcome to attend! No hats are required but the wearing of the colors red and/or purple is encouraged.

For the second year in a row, the Red HOT Hatters will be venturing to the Stream Cliff Farm, Restaurant and Winery on Friday, April 17th. Beginning with lunch at the Twigs & Sprigs Restaurant at 11a.m, our day will be filled with fun, food, shopping, and beautiful scenery. Stream Cliff is located in Commiskey, Indiana. Drive time from Vevay is roughly an hour so I anticipate a caravan forming in the lot of the YMCA and leaving no later than 10 a.m. An advanced headcount would be helpful again. Please feel free to call me at home (812) 594-2281 or email me at RedHotHatter0312@yahoo.com.

Prayers of comfort and solace to the family of Patricia McMurray of Patriot and Theresa “Kay” Earls Marlman.

Happy January Birthday greetings to Bonnie Simon on January 12th, Deanna Graham and Kathryn Turner on January 16th, Patty Chase on January 20th, Mary Christiani on January 21st, Jeni Scudder on January 22nd, John Kniola and Dianna South on January 23rd, Doris Jenkins on January 27th, Helen Hounshell and Diana Barry on January 28th, and Auditor Carolyn Green on January 31st.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Patriot Town Board will be held on Tuesday, February 4th at 5 p.m. The meetings are held at the Patriot Town Hall.

Prayer list: Firefighter Ron Brunner, Patty Chase, Pam Minch, Barbara Barnhill, Nick Vogelsang, Eva Fette, Reverend Steve Ward, Abby Galbreath, Ellyn Kern and Jerry Brown, John Campbell, Sharon and Bill Levell, Posey Tappers Jake and Mickie Rader, Concordia Sharon Coplin and Lula Belle Thomas and Red HOT Hatters Joyce Johnson, Mary Christiani, Sandy Dawson, Juanita Giltner, Barb Dowdy, Laura Riga and June Lack.
