294

The only incorporated town in the United States named Patriot is busy finalizing the plans for this year’s Fourth of July Parade and festivities.

Patriot Park Board President Stephany Abplanalp announced that this year’s Parade will be on Monday, July 4th and will begin at 11 a.m. Participants will line up at the Patriot Boat Ramp northeast of town beginning at 9 a.m. Registration will be held there on a first come, first served basis – so come early for a good spot.

The flag ceremony at the Memorial Park will begin immediately after the Parade at approximately noon.

Once the flag presentation has been completed, everyone is invited to proceed across the street to Harris Park for dinner at 1 p.m. Entertainment will include music, games and inflatable recreation.

Anyone with questions may contact Stephany Abplanalp at (812) 493-7670 (home) or (812) 290-6692 (cell).

Both the Patriot and Posey Township Fire Departments will assist with the preparation and execution of the Parade.

Other members of the Patriot Park Board are: Nicole Renger, Mike Turner, Larry Monjar, Jerry Turner and Marlin Abplanalp, Jr.
