Easter is all about family, and in Patriot, the Fisk Family is known and loved by all. Connie and David Fisk counted their blessings this Easter with pork roast, ham and all the trimmings. Amongst those blessings in attendance were: Children Joey and Carrie Fisk and Holly and Shawn Huey; Grandchildren Michaela, Sabrina, Jackson, Natalie, Hailey and great-granddaughter Emma.
On April 6th, ‘First Friday’ festivities are entitled ‘Chalandamarz’ and include a Blessing of the Animals by Father Christopher Craig, pastor of Prince of Peace in Madison and the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Church in Vevay. The festivities will run from 5-9 p.m. The Blessings of the Animals will start at 6 p.m. in the Opera House Park, located at Pike and Ferry streets — across from Danner’s. Bring your dogs on a leash and your cats in a carrier for the safety of all involved, please. Domestic pets as well as farm animals are welcome. Different sites will be set up for different types of animals. The Switzerland County Animal Shelter will also have adoptable dogs and cats available.
Also, on ‘First Friday’, April 6th, Vevay’s Historic Hoosier Theater will be showing the movie “Pitch Perfect” at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $3. Saturday, April 14th is April Movie Night and “Justice League” will be showing. Again, tickets are $3 each and are available in advance at the Switzerland County Welcome Center (812) 427-3237. The Theater is located at 209 Ferry Street in Vevay.
On Friday and Saturday, April 27th-28th, the Switzerland County High School will provide a live play performance entitled “Let Him Sleep ‘Til It’s Time For His Funderal.” Admission both nights will be $5 each and are available in advance at the Switzerland County Welcome Center (812) 427-3237.
The 4th of July Parade this year will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4th, with lineup at the Patriot Boat Ramp beginning at 9 a.m. Registration forms will be available the day of the Parade at sign-up. Everyone is encouraged to participate. Liability waivers must be signed in advance. The Town of Patriot, Indiana is the only incorporated town in the United States with the name of Patriot, making our Parade, the only true Patriot Parade. Immediately following the parade there will be a flag ceremony at the Memorial Park. The day’s activities will conclude in Harris Park and will include a meal. The Red HOT Hatters will hold their next meeting at Roxano’s on Thursday, April 19th, beginning at 11 a.m. Main topic of conversation will be the upcoming fundraiser for the Antoinette Kniola Memorial Fund which is tentatively a Tea at the Schenck Mansion on Sunday, June 3rd. In addition, there will be discussion of the collection and sale of garage sale items also to benefit Toni’s Memorial Fund.
The Annual Gun Shoot sponsored by ‘Team Holcomb’ and featuring Indiana’s First Lady Janet Holcomb originally scheduled for Saturday morning, March 24th has been re-scheduled to this Saturday, April 7th at 11 a.m. due to the weather. The Shoot will be held at the Switzerland County Sportsman’s Club at 11437 Bennington Pike. For additional information call (317) 635-7561.
