Just in case you didn't notice the huge photo and accompanying article in last week's newspaper, my friend John N. Campbell celebrated his 93rd Birthday. As always, we went to his favorite restaurant in Cincinnati Demetrio's, and this time, I imbibed of the delicious fish special also. They were so wonderful to John that the owners of the restaurant baked John a birthday cake! It was delicious! So very kind and thoughtful!

Thursday, the Red HOT Hatters converged on Moasis Grill for our annual Valentine’s celebration. In attendance were: Juanita Giltner, Patty Banschbach, Sandy Dawson, Lisa Fisher, Claudia Dawson, Stasia Wiseman, Mary Christiani, Melodee Stepleton, Mika King, Jan Bixler, Dottie Keeton, Deanna Graham, Carla Burt, Martha Schmidt and Kay Cook. Mike Jones was coerced into making a quick appearance and was a great sport.

Our next Red HOT Hatters meeting will be Thursday, March 15th, starting with lunch at the Mexican restaurant El Nopal in the Butler Outlet Mall in Carrollton Kentucky and a shopping excursion. Lunch will be at 11 a.m. and shopping will follow. Come and have fun! What a better day can you spend than having lunch and shopping with friends!

The Switzerland County Republicans will hold their 2018 Lincoln Day Dinner at Belterra Casino Resort and Spa on Saturday, March 24th. Tickets will be $50 per person, $90 per couple and $450 for a table of eight. Easter is early this year, so I thought I would include this cute and very versatile recipe sure to make your favorite little bunnies, jump for joy!

BUNNY BAIT

or WHITE TRASH

or CHRISTMAS CRACK

2 cups – Pretzels

1 bag – Popped white popcorn

1 package – Almond Bark

white melting chocolate

1 bag – festive M&M’s

2 cups – cereal

CHEX OR Fruit Loops OR Capt. Crunch

, Golden Grahams OR Honey Nut Cheerios

1 container – Sprinkles

Spread pretzels, popcorn and cereal on a foil covered baking sheet and drizzle white chocolate over the mixture. Gently stir to coat evenly. Add sprinkles but don’t stir or the sprinkles will be coated with chocolate and turn white. Let mixture harden on cookie sheets and then break apart and add M&M’s to the finished mixture. Variations for all holidays are possible as are cute ideas for packaging.

The Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church will hold the Stations of the Cross immediately following the 5:30 p.m. rosary each Friday through March 23rd. Good Friday will be observed at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 30th. There will be no Saturday mass on March 31st in Vevay. Mass schedule for Easter has not yet been finalized but will be held in Vevay on Easter morning, April 1st.
