Patriot and Posey Township News 12-7-17

It’s done. I’m permanently and completely retired – again. I had to give up my employment early because of some physical problems that I am experiencing. Grrrrr! You know when the doctor tells you how to take care of yourself and you don’t? Well, I am living proof that not listening really can cause problems in the future. I have ‘cowboy’-ed my way through the last few decades with a rotten right shoulder and I’ve even managed to destroy the total replacement which now must be partially removed. Looks like I will be sidelined for a while and as soon as I recover from this surgery, we’re gonna start on the other side. Grrrrr!

Congratulations to Toy and Gardy Smith who celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, December 3rd. And to Gayle and David Rayles on their 34th Wedding Anniversary, the very same day!

My dear friends, Sandy and Wayne Dawson, will be celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary this Saturday, December 9th.

Thank you to Deanna Graham for noticing that my article was not in the paper two weeks ago! (Too busy, too slow, too late.)

Mystery solved! This spring one of my book club selections disappeared. I searched every structure on my premises, every room and closet of those structures, both cars. Nothing. I finally gave up and just paid for the book at the Switzerland County Library in desperation. Voilá! Last Tuesday, I began a serious deep-clean on my bedroom only to find that one of my Two Terrible Twin Tomcats had apparently shoved the book off my nightstand and behind and under the bed. I gave it back to the Library. It created way too much trouble to enjoy it now.

In the “Lessons Learned” category this week, as I previously mentioned – your body will eventually refuse to be abused anymore. Mine has. My poor old right shoulder has been through defensive tactics and weightlifting in the police academy, a few too many car accidents, and more recently too much lifting, mowing and weed eating. It’s toast. My fault. Now I gotta live with the consequences.

In the “Critter Corner” this week, all the feline and canine members of my family have been very confused with all of Mom’s cleaning, scrubbing, mopping and moving. (In preparation for surgery next week.) Wait until Mom is home all of the time. 24/7 ! That will be scary for the little critters.
