I officially celebrated the arrival of Spring with the purchase of a brand new weed wacker! Can’t wait to get it charged up and wacking weeds! And there are tons of happy, healthy weeds already growing in my yard.

A belated Happy 75th Birthday to my friend Bruce Hutcherson on March 6th!

The Red HOT Hatters met Wednesday at the Sunset Grill in Warsaw, Kentucky. In attendance were: Patty Chase, Stasia Wiseman, Mary Christiani, Dotty Keeton, Jan Bixler, Joyce Johnson, Eileen Wiesmann, Claudia Dawson, Mika King, Carla Burt, Juanita Giltner and Kay Cook. Martha Schmidt came with Claudia as her guest and will hopefully be back! Joyce Johnson brought gifts from a former Red Hatter in Florida which were shared by Eileen and Mika. Discussions included our participation and sponsorship of this year’s Switzerland County Animal Shelter’s ‘Shelter Shuffle’ scheduled for June 17th and the County-Wide Yard Sale that unfortunately is also scheduled for the same day. Donations for the Red HOT Hatters’ Yard Sale will be gladly accepted. Call (812) 594-2281, Kay Cook for arrangements for pick up. Any and all proceeds will be donated to the Antoinette “Toni” Kniola Memorial Fund with the Community Foundation.

I did attend Fish Fry #2 at the Rising Sun United Methodist Church (110 S. Walnut/Highway 56) this past Friday and again I had the pleasure of the company of my friend Jennifer Poling and her parents Mary Ruth and Gink Poling. And again I ran into my friends Rita and Tom Turner. I also spotted Dianna “Jodi” Winslow and her daughter Dionne Reynolds there. The last and final Fish Fry will be held on Friday, April 7th from 5-7 p.m. Menu includes fish or chicken, baked beans, slaw, macaroni and cheese and your choice of scrumptious homemade desserts. Free will donations are accepted as are carry out requests. The food is always excellent!

After much deliberation, I have decided to retire…again! I officially retired the first time 12 years ago on April 1st, 2005. So, again on April 1st, I am planning on retiring again! I think I’d rather be broke than tired. Wish me luck!
