Patriot and Posey Township 2-15-18

Ash Wednesday this year falls on Valentine’s Day (February 14th); and Easter will fall on April Fool’s Day (April 1st). Ash Wednesday services will therefore be held at 4 p.m. at the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay on February 14th. Stations of the Cross will follow the 5:30 p.m. rosary each Friday from February 16th to March 23rd. There will be no Saturday mass on March 31st in Vevay. The Mass schedule for Easter has not yet been finalized.

At least I was awake this past week! Off the crazy new medication subscribed by my doctor, I actually was able to do something besides stay in bed. Of course, the weather managed to curtail some of my plans, but I’ll live. Thursday I was able to make my monthly trek to Indianapolis for the “Retired Old Farts” Meeting at the F.O.P. Hall. Friday, I returned to Cincinnati and John Campbell and I enjoyed lunch at his (and mine, now!) favorite restaurant Demetrios.

The Patriot Town Board meeting was Tuesday, February 6th and was well attended. Several issues including the election of a new Town Board President were tabled pending the return of the third Board member Wayne Turner (JR) who had employment obligations. Liz Thomas continues in that position until then.

Happy Birthdays and Anniversaries: Red HOT Hatters Cheryl McMillan and Sandy Dawson share a birthday on February 5th. Plus, now, in addition to these two – my dear friend Sandy also shared her birthday with the birth day of her new great grandson Lukas Gault, baby brother to Linkon, son of Halie and Kevin Gault. Thursday, February 8th was also the 60th anniversary of my friends Mary and Tony Christiani! Sunday was the birthday of Red HOT Hatter Debbie Turner. Happy Valentine’s Day/Ash Wednesday and Happy Anniversary to Reverend Stephen and Sharon Ward!

Prayers of healing for Fritz Korn, John Campbell, Jake Rader, Pam Hutchinson, Colton Schirmer, Erin Schmitt, Leona Ware, Travis Griffith, Wayne Dawson, Red HOT Hatters Peggy Higgins and June Lack.

The Switzerland County Republicans will hold their 2018 Lincoln Day Dinner at Belterra Casino Resort and Spa on Saturday, March 24th. Tickets will be $50 per person, $90 per couple and $450 for a table of eight. Information about advertising and purchasing tickets is forthcoming.
