Matchups have been announced for the upcoming Rivertown Classic Basketball Tournament that will be played January 2nd-5th at South Dearborn High School.
The tournament will begin on Wednesday, January 2nd, with two girls games. The first will feature Lawrenceburg versus Rising Sun beginning at 6 p.m.; with Coach Ashley Chase’s Switzerland County Lady Pacers playing South Dearborn in the second contest, which will begin at approximately 8 p.m.
On Thursday, January 3rd, it’s the boys turn to take the floor, and the drawing is the same, with Rising Sun and Lawrenceburg squaring off at 6 p.m.; and the second game at about 8 p.m. will pit Switzerland County against South Dearborn – which handed the Pacers their first loss of the year last week.
Friday, January 4th is Consolation Night, with the losers from the two games on Wednesday playing for third place in the first game at 6 p.m. on Friday. That will be followed by the boys consolation game at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Between the two consolation games, the annual Cheerleader Competition will be held, and the winner of that event will be announced at the end of the third quarter of the boys consolation game.
Champions will be crowned on Saturday night, January 5th, with the girls title game starting at 6 p.m. and the boys championship tilt starting at about 8 p.m.
Single session and all tournament tickets will be available at the door.
The draw remains the same but the venue changes for the Junior Varsity Rivertown Classic – along with the format.
On Wednesday morning, January 2nd, Rising Sun’s girls jayvee team will play Lawrenceburg at 10 a.m. at Lawrenceburg High School; and that will be followed by the Rising Sun and Lawrenceburg boys junior varsity teams playing at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Also on Wednesday morning here at Switzerland County, the Pacer girls jayvee will play South Dearborn at 10 a.m.; with the boys junior varsity playing the Knights at approximately 11:30 a.m.
The championship games of the junior varsity tournament will be played on Saturday morning, January 5th, with the girls game is played at 10 a.m. and the boys game starts at 11:30 a.m.
The site of the championship games has yet to be determined, and will be based on which schools are in the games.
