The Switzerland County boys varsity track team headed into Sectional competition last week by finishing third overall in the ORVC Conference Meet.
Rising Sun won the event with a total of 146; followed by South Ripley with 96; Switzerland County with 93; Milan with 73; Jac-Cen-Del with 35; Southwestern with 17; and Madison Shawe with one.
Sophomore Braden Burk had an outstanding meet, winning the 800-meter run in a personal-best time of 2:07; and he also won the 1,600-meter run in a personal-best time of 4:46. He also finished third overall in the 3,200-meter run; and was a part of the second-place finishing 3,200-meter relay team with Logan Pike, Damien Woodward, and Michael Douglas.
Clint Swanson won the 200-meter dash in a personal-best time of :22.96′ and Alex Curran won the high jump with a height of 6’1″.
Second places were earned by Clint Swanson in the 100-meter dash; Alex Curran in the long jump; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Damien Woodward, Michael Douglas, Sean Oatman, and Logan Pike.
Finishing third were Ben Curran in the 110-meter high hurdles; while Clint Swanson tied for fourth in the high jump.
Earning fifth place points were Sean Oatman in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles; Zack Rodgers in the discus; and the 400-meter relay team of Kevin Adams, Zack Rodgers, Tyler Maxey, and Clint Swanson.
Alex Herbert was seventh in the discus.
The team now participates in the IHSAA Sectional tonight (Thursday) at Jeffersonville.
